Task history

Updated:

In Taska, task history shows a task's path across boards and its key changes: who changed the status, assignee, priority and deadline, and when. You open it with the clock button in the task window.

How to open the history

  1. Open the task.
  2. In the bottom row of the window, click the clock button, “Task history”.
The task window: in the bottom row, the clock button Task history is numbered 2

The “Task log” window opens on top of the task window. When you close it with the cross, you're back in the task. Everyone who can open the task sees its history, guests included. Service desk tickets don't have a history.

What's in the window

The Task log window: the caption of the selected event at the top is numbered 1, the board diagram with the task card 2, the event list 3 and the Play button 4
  1. The caption at the top. Which event is selected, who did it and when.
  2. The board diagram. The task card sits in the column where the task was at the moment of the selected event. If the task moved between boards, the diagram shows them one after another.
  3. The event list. Older events are at the top, newer ones at the bottom. Each event shows who made it. If a change wasn't made by a person by hand, there's a label next to it, for example “TaskAI”, “API” or “Telegram”.
  4. The “Play” button. It plays the task's whole path from the start, and while it plays, the button says “Stop”. The button is there if the task moved to another column or board at least once.

The window opens on the latest event. Click any event in the list, and the card on the diagram flies to where the task was at that moment.

Animation: clicking the Task created event moves the card on the diagram back to the Backlog column, and clicking Status changed moves it to Code review

What the history includes

  • the task's creation;
  • status changes and moves to another board;
  • completing and reopening;
  • changes of the assignee, priority, deadline and epic;
  • blockers: set, edited, removed or deleted;
  • chat messages, with the beginning of the text;
  • links to other tasks added or removed, shown as “Task updated”.

Changes to the title, description, tags, recurrence and custom fields, as well as the checklist and files, don't appear in the task history. To see who changed the title, description, tags or recurrence, use the space change history. To open it, click the name of the space in the sidebar, then “⋮” and “Change history”.

In older tasks, some events are marked “restored”. Taska rebuilt them from the task's dates, because these events happened before the history existed. Such events have no author.

How much history you see

How far back the history goes depends on the plan of the space where the task lives.

PlanWhat you see
Freethe last 10 events from the past 14 days
Free Teamthe last 10 events from the past 30 days
Pro and Pro Trialevents from the past 365 days
Business and Business Trialevents from the past 730 days

On free plans, earlier events are blurred. On top of them, Taska shows how many events are hidden, and there's an “Upgrade” button.

Example

Mark created the task “Phone number authorization” two weeks ago in the “Backlog” column. Two days ago he moved it to “Code review”, and then you and he discussed the task in the chat. The history has four rows: “Task created”, “Status changed” from “Backlog” to “Code review”, and two “Message in the chat” rows. Click “Task created”, and the card on the diagram goes back to “Backlog”. Click “Status changed”, and it flies to “Code review” again.
