How to delete your account
You delete your Taska account in the “User profile” window. Deletion is permanent, and even support can't restore your account. Your personal space and all its projects are deleted with it.
What gets deleted
- Your personal space with all its projects, boards, tasks, articles, files and comments.
- Team spaces where you are the only member. The deletion window lists them by name.
- Your TaskAI chat history, routines and spark history.
- Your subscription. It's canceled right away, your card is unlinked, and you won't be charged again. The paid period and any sparks you bought are lost.
- Your connections: the Telegram bot, calendar sync, API keys and push notifications on your phone.
- Your favorites and personal settings.
You're signed out on all devices.
What stays with your teammates
- You leave the team spaces where you are a member. Your tasks, comments and messages there stay. Instead of your name, your teammates see “Deleted user”.
- Tasks where you were the assignee stay without an assignee.
- Guests you invited to projects in your personal space lose access to them.
- Invoices and receipts are kept without your personal data, as the law requires.
Before you delete your account
- If you want a refund for a subscription or sparks, contact support before you delete the account. See “Refunds”.
- If you own a team that has other members, delete it or remove its members first. Otherwise the deletion won't start, see below.
- Check your personal space. Everything in it will be lost.
How to delete your account
- At the bottom of the sidebar, click the button with your name. The “User profile” window opens.
- Scroll down the “Profile” tab to the “Delete account” block and click the “Delete account” button in it.
- Read the “What happens after deletion:” list. Taska builds it for your account. For example, it names the team spaces that will be deleted along with it.
- Click “Proceed to deletion”. If you've changed your mind, click “Keep my account”.
- Type your email address in the “Account email” field by hand. You can't paste it, and the browser won't fill it in either. When the address matches, the field turns green.
- Enter your account password in the “Password” field. If you only sign in with Yandex ID and never set a password, this field isn't shown.
- Click “Delete account forever”. Your account is deleted immediately, and this can't be undone.
After the deletion, the Taska website opens. You can sign up again with the same email, but it will be a new, empty account.
The “Proceed to deletion” button is grayed out
You own a team space that has other members. The window shows such spaces in a yellow block, “First transfer ownership or delete these team spaces:”, with the number of members in each. They can't be deleted along with your account, because your teammates would lose their work.
- To delete the space, open “Space settings” and click “Delete”. Everything in it is lost for your teammates too.
- To have the space deleted along with your account, remove its members on the “Members” tab of its settings.
- To let the team keep working without you, contact support. There's no button to transfer ownership in the space settings yet. See “How to contact Taska support” for how to reach support.
Then click “Delete account” again. The window checks your spaces again every time.
The email doesn't match or the password is rejected
- “The email does not match the account email.” Compare it with the address shown above the field. Uppercase and lowercase letters are treated the same.
- “Wrong password.” Enter the password again. If you don't remember it, set a new one via “Forgot password?” on the sign-in form. See “How to reset your password”.
- “Too many attempts. Try again in a few minutes.” A wrong password here counts as a failed sign-in attempt. Wait a few minutes and try again.
On a phone
The deletion windows open full screen. The “Proceed to deletion” button has no label there, only an arrow. In the second window, the buttons have no labels either: the red button with a trash can deletes the account, and the button with a cross closes the window.
