Taska

Sessions, tabs and signing out

Updated:

Taska keeps you signed in for 30 days after your last activity. Signing out in one tab signs you out of the whole browser, while your phone and other computers stay signed in.

How long you stay signed in

You stay signed in for 30 days after your last activity. Each time you use Taska, the countdown starts over. Closing a tab or the browser doesn't sign you out, which is why there's no “Remember me” checkbox on the sign-in form.

If your session ends while a page is open, Taska opens the sign-in form with the message “Your session has expired. Please sign in again.” After you sign in, you return to the same screen.

This happens if you haven't used Taska for 30 days, changed your password, or your browser cleared the site data.

Losing your internet connection doesn't end your session. Taska shows a “Connection Lost” notification and carries on when the connection is back. See “No connection: what to do”.

Several tabs

All tabs and windows of one browser share the same sign-in.

  • If you sign out in one tab, the other tabs of this browser also switch to the sign-in form. It shows the message “You signed out in another tab. Sign in again to continue.”
  • If you sign in in one tab while another tab shows the sign-in form, the second tab opens Taska by itself.
  • If someone signs in with a different account in another tab, the other tabs reload and show that account.

In one browser you can work in only one account at a time. Open a second account in a different browser or in a private window.

Several devices

You can be signed in on several devices at once, such as your computer and your phone. Each device has its own sign-in, and signing out on one doesn't affect the others.

There's no button that signs you out on all devices at once. If you need that, change your password via “Forgot password?”. After a password change, Taska signs you out everywhere. The steps are in “How to reset your password”.

How to sign out

  1. At the bottom of the sidebar, click the button with your name. The “User profile” window opens.
  2. In the left column of the window, below the line, click “Sign out”. On a short screen, the “Support”, “About product” and “Sign out” buttons have no labels and sit in a row of icons. “Sign out” is the last icon in the row, and its label appears when you hover over it.
Bottom of the sidebar: the button with the user's name is numbered 1
The User profile window: in the left column below the line, the Sign out button (the last icon in the row) is numbered 2 with an arrow

On your phone, tap the menu button with three lines in the bottom bar, then the button with your name. In the bottom row of the window, tap the red button with the sign-out icon.

What happens after you sign out

  • In a browser, the Taska website opens. In the mobile app, the sign-in form opens.
  • The other tabs of this browser are signed out as well.
  • Your phone and other computers stay signed in.
  • In the mobile app, signing out turns off push notifications on that phone. Signing out in a browser doesn't affect push notifications on your phone.
