Personal and team spaces: what's the difference

Updated:

Everyone in Taska has a personal space, and only you see its projects. A team space is for working together: it has members with roles and its own name, color and plan.

Personal space

Your personal space is created when you sign up, and you have exactly one. In the sidebar it's called “My projects”. You can't delete it or leave it.

Only you see the projects in your personal space. You can't invite anyone to the whole personal space, but you can invite people to a single project as a member or a guest. On the Free plan you can invite up to 2 people to one project, on Pro up to 25. The invited person finds the project in their sidebar under “Invited me”.

Your personal plan applies in your personal space: Free or Pro.

Team space

You create a team space with “Add a team” in the sidebar. Whoever creates it becomes its owner. Everyone else joins by an email invitation or an invitation link and gets a role: admin, member or guest. What each role can do is described in “Roles: owner, admin, member and guest”.

A team member sees all of the team's projects, including ones created later. You can also let a person into a single project or a single board. Then they don't see the team's other projects.

The owner and admins set the team's name and color. Everyone else can change them only for themselves, see “Your personal settings for a space”.

A team has its own plan: the free Free Team or the paid Business. The first team you create gets a 30-day Business trial. Your personal Pro doesn't unlock anything in a team space. On the other hand, members and admins of a Business team, including one on a Business trial, get Pro in their own personal space.

You can have several team spaces, but only one free Free Team per owner. How to create a team is described in “How to create a team space”.

Where they are in the sidebar

By default, “My projects” comes first, team spaces follow, and the last line, “Add a team”, creates another team. Each space lists its projects underneath. The “Today”, “Upcoming” and “My tasks” lists collect tasks from all spaces at once.

Sidebar: the personal space My projects, the team space Aurora product and the Add a team line below them are outlined

Example

Daniel is the product manager for the Aurora mobile app. The work projects live in the team space “Aurora product”, and the whole team sees them. The client, Peter, is in the team as a guest: he looks at tasks but doesn't change anything. Daniel keeps his own to-dos in his personal space, in the “Personal to-dos” project, and his teammates don't see it.

If you created a project in the wrong space

You can't move an existing project to another space. You can save it as a template instead: on the project card, click “⋮” and choose “Save as template”. The template library is shared across all your spaces, so you can create a project from the template in another space. Only the structure carries over: boards with their columns and empty knowledge bases. Tasks, articles and files stay in the old project.
