Search and favorites in the knowledge base

Updated:

In Taska, your favorite articles sit in a block above the knowledge base tree, and each person has their own list. To find an article by its title, use the article header, project search or Ctrl+K.

How to add an article to favorites

  1. Open the article.
  2. Click the star button in the article header. The star fills in.
The header of the User research article: the star button is numbered 2

In the knowledge base tree, the star in an article's row does the same. It shows up when the pointer is over the row. You can also right-click an article and choose “Add to favorites”. To remove an article from favorites, use the same star or “Remove from favorites”.

Favorites are personal, and your teammates don't see them. Guests and anyone in an archived project can't add articles to favorites.

Where to find your favorite articles

The “Favorites” block sits above the knowledge base tree. It appears when at least one article of this knowledge base is in your favorites.

  1. The “Favorites” header with the number of articles. Click it to collapse or expand the block.
  2. An article in the block. Click it to open the article.
  3. A filled star next to an article title in the tree. It marks articles from your favorites.

You can drag articles within the block, and each person has their own order. Right-clicking an article in the block opens a menu with “Open in a new tab”, “Copy article link” and “Remove from favorites”. The same articles are on the “Favorites” screen in the sidebar.

How to find an article

Search in the app looks only at titles. It doesn't read the text of articles, so type words from the title of the article or folder.

In the article header

  1. Open any article of the knowledge base and click its title in the header.
  2. Type part of the title in the “Search...” field. Only matching articles stay in the list.
  3. Click the article you need.

  1. In the knowledge base header, click “⋮” and choose “Search in the project”.
  2. Type part of the title of an article or folder.
  3. Click the row with the article.

Taska opens the knowledge base, expands the folder and highlights the article in the tree. In an extended project, this search also finds tasks, epics and other project items. See “How to search within a project” for details.

Across Taska

Press Ctrl+K (⌘K on a Mac) and type part of the title. Search finds the article in all your spaces. See “Search and quick navigation (Ctrl+K)” for details.

There's no “Search in the project” item

You were invited only to this knowledge base, not to the whole project. Find articles by title in the article header or with Ctrl+K.

How to add the whole knowledge base to favorites

In the knowledge base header, click “⋮” and choose “Add to favorites”. The knowledge base appears on the “Favorites” screen next to your projects, boards and tasks. See “How to use Favorites” for details.

A teammate's block looks different

Everyone has their own favorites. Whether the “Favorites” block is collapsed is remembered by the browser on each device separately.
