Questions and answers
Why does my “Today” show tasks nobody assigned to me?
These are tasks without an assignee. They count as shared, so a task with a deadline shows up in “Today” and “Upcoming” for everyone who can see its project. Assign someone, and the task leaves everyone else's lists. See “Inbox, Today, Upcoming and My tasks: how tasks get into your lists” for details.
I assigned a task to a colleague and it disappeared from my lists. Where is it?
In “My tasks”, in the “Delegated by me” view. “Inbox”, “Today” and “Upcoming” show only tasks assigned to you and tasks without an assignee. All views are described in “My tasks: views and what each one shows”.
Why is the same task in both “Inbox” and “Today”?
It has no board and is due today. It is one task that appears in two lists. Move it to a board, and it stays only in “Today”. How to do it is described in “Inbox: capture tasks quickly and sort them onto boards”.
How do I move a task from a board back to “Inbox”?
You can't, there is no such action. A task on a board can only be moved to another board, as described in “How to move a task to another board”.
I clicked “Clear deadline” and the tasks disappeared. Where are they?
The tasks aren't deleted. They no longer have a deadline. Look for them on their boards and in “My tasks” in the “No deadline” view. Tasks without a board stayed in “Inbox”. The previous deadlines can't be restored. See “Overdue tasks: reschedule or remove the deadline” for details.
Why are the tasks in “Today” in a different order in the morning?
The “Every morning by priority and deadline” checkbox is on in the “Tasks sorting” menu. At the start of each day, Taska sorts the list by priority and deadline. Clear the checkbox to keep your own order. See “Sorting ‘Today’ and the morning auto-sort” for details.
I dragged a task within a day in “Upcoming”, and its time didn't change. Is that right?
Yes. Within a day, only the order of tasks changes. When you move a task to another day, the date changes and the time stays the same. To change the time, edit the “Deadline” field in the task window. See “Upcoming: tasks day by day” for details.
Why does a recurring task appear in “Upcoming” only once?
The “List” view shows the nearest repeat. The following repeats are visible in the “Calendar” view, described in “Calendar in ‘Upcoming’: week, month and tasks without a deadline”.
Where is the “Calendar” view on my phone?
On a phone, “Upcoming” always opens in the “List” view. The “Calendar” view is available on computers and tablets.
Which space does a task from “Create a task” go to?
To the space you opened last, or to your personal space if there is none. To put the task on a board right away, pick a project in the creation window. See “Inbox: capture tasks quickly and sort them onto boards” for details.
Why is the counter next to “Today” red and blinking?
You have overdue tasks, and the counter shows how many. When there are no overdue tasks, it shows the number of tasks due today. What to do with overdue tasks is described in “Overdue tasks: reschedule or remove the deadline”.
Why don't “Upcoming” and “My tasks” have a counter in the sidebar?
That is by design. You see the number of tasks on the screens themselves, and in “My tasks” it is on the view button.
Why has a task in “My tasks” faded?
It no longer fits the view. For example, you read a mention or closed the task. A faded task leaves the list when you switch views or open “My tasks” again.
