Why a task is missing from “Today” or “Upcoming”
In Taska, “Today” and “Upcoming” show only open tasks with a deadline where you are the assignee or there is no assignee. Check the task's deadline, assignee and status in the order below.
Open the task on its board, in “Inbox” or through search (Ctrl+K). Two fields of the task window decide almost everything: “Deadline” and “Assignee”.
If the task has no deadline
This is the most common cause. Without a deadline, a task gets into neither “Today” nor “Upcoming”.
If the “Deadline” field in the task window is empty, click it, pick a day and click “Save”. For today, use the first button under the calendar (“Today”). All your tasks without a deadline are collected in “My tasks” in the “No deadline” view.
If the deadline is on another day
“Today” shows only tasks with today's date. A task with a past date sits above, in the “Overdue” block. If the block is collapsed, click its header. A task with a future date waits on its day in “Upcoming”.
If you changed the deadline and chose “Don't save” when closing the task window, the change wasn't saved. Change the deadline again and click “Save”. See “How to save changes to a task” for details.
If someone else is the assignee
Personal lists show tasks assigned to you and tasks without an assignee. If a colleague is in the “Assignee” field, the task shows up in their lists, not in yours.
If you assigned the task to a colleague yourself, it is in “My tasks” in the “Delegated by me” view. To bring the task back to your lists, choose yourself in the “Assignee” field and click “Save”.
If you have just started using Taska
After you sign up and finish the setup wizard, Taska opens “Today” with the message “Nothing planned for today”. This isn't an error. You don't have any tasks due today yet.
Create a project and a task due today as described in “Where to start: your first steps after signing up”. There is also a quicker way. Click “Create a task” on the empty “Today” screen, enter a title and click “Create”. The deadline is set automatically to the start of the next hour, and the task appears in the list right away.
If the task is closed
Closed tasks leave the personal lists. Tasks closed in the last week are in “My tasks” in the “Done this week” view. How to find a closed task on a board is described in “Closed tasks: where they go and how to show them”. How to reopen a closed task is described in “How to complete and reopen a task”.
If the project or section is archived
Tasks from archived projects and sections don't get into any personal list. You can see them only inside the project itself. Restore the project or section from the archive (Archiving projects and sections), and the tasks come back to the lists.
If your device has a different date or time zone
“Today” and overdue status are based on the clock and time zone of your device. If the clock on your computer or phone is wrong, the day boundary shifts. A task due at 12:30 AM can then end up on the previous or the next day. Check the date, time and time zone in your device settings.
If the task is recurring
In the “List” view of “Upcoming”, a recurring task appears only on its nearest date. The following repeats are shown in the “Calendar” view, described in “Calendar in ‘Upcoming’: week, month and tasks without a deadline”. When you close such a task, it isn't closed for good but moves to its next date.
If it is a service desk ticket
A new service desk ticket gets into “Today” and “Upcoming” only after it is accepted, that is, moved to a board, or after it gets an assignee. Tickets never go to “Inbox”.
