Taska

How the Taska screen is organized

Updated:

In Taska, the sidebar is on the left, the breadcrumbs are at the top, and the open section fills the center. The task window and the notifications panel open on top of them.

What's on the screen

  • The sidebar on the left. It has the “Create a task” and “Search” buttons, your personal task lists, “Favorites” and all your spaces with their projects. At the bottom are “Notifications” and a button with your name, which opens your profile. Each item is described in “Sidebar: sections, spaces and counters”.
  • The breadcrumbs at the top. They show the path to what's open now: space, project, section. A link with an arrow opens a list of neighboring projects or sections, and you can jump to any of them with one click. The house icon at the start takes you to the “Today” screen.
  • The open section in the center. It shows what you picked: a board, a knowledge base, a roadmap or one of your personal task lists. The section header at the top has its name and buttons.

The picture shows the “Development” board of the “Aurora” project in a team space. Its row is highlighted in the sidebar, and the breadcrumbs show the path to it.

The task window

When you click a task card, the task opens in a window on top of the section. The section stays in place underneath. The task fields are on the left of the window, the checklist and files are next to them, and the task chat is on the right. The “Save” button in the bottom right corner of the window saves changes to the fields. When the checklist and chat are open next to the fields, the button shows only a check mark. If you close the window with unsaved changes, Taska asks whether to save them. See “The task window: what's in it” for details.

Panels on the right

Panels slide in from the right edge of the screen: notifications, task timers and TaskAI. The “Timers” button appears in the sidebar when you have a task timer. The “TaskAI” button is visible to people who have access to TaskAI. To close a panel, click the cross in its header or press Esc.

Pop-up messages

Short messages appear at the bottom of the screen for a few seconds. On the left, Taska confirms your own actions, for example “Link copied”. On the right, you see events from your teammates, in the same form as rows in the notifications panel. Click such a message to go to the event.

An invitation to a project or team arrives as a message with “Accept” and “Decline” buttons. It stays on the screen until you answer.

Search across Taska

Press Ctrl+K (⌘K on a Mac) on any screen. A search window opens for all your spaces. Type part of the name of a project, section, article or task. See “Search and quick navigation (Ctrl+K)” for details.

On a phone

On a narrow screen, there's no sidebar. A bar at the bottom of the screen has buttons instead: the calendar icon opens “Today”, “+” creates a task, and “≡” opens a menu with the same items as the sidebar. See “Taska on your phone: the Android app” for details.
