How to create a project
Click “Create a project” on the space page in Taska, enter a name and pick the sections to start with. When you click “Create”, the project opens right away.
How to create a project
- In the sidebar, click the name of the space. Your personal space is labeled “My projects”.
- On the space page, click “Create a project” in the top right corner.
- In the “Title” field, enter a name for the project.
- In the “The project grows with your work” block, select the sections: “Board”, “Knowledge base”, “Roadmap”. Only “Board” is selected by default.
- If “Board” is selected, the “Board template” block appears on the right. Pick ready-made columns or leave “Blank board”.
- Click “Create”.
Taska opens the new project right away. If it has one section, the project opens straight on it, for example on the board. If it has several sections, you land on the “Overview” page with a card for each section.
Which sections to choose
A section is a place where work happens. You can't clear the last check mark, because a project can't be created without sections.
- “Board”. Tasks arranged in columns. It suits almost any kind of work.
- “Knowledge base”. Articles and folders with guidelines, instructions and notes for your tasks.
- “Roadmap”. The project's epics on a Gantt chart.
Below the options, Taska shows what you'll get. One section gives you a simple project. Two or more sections give you an extended project right away, with an overview, section tabs and a workflow map. If you start with one section, you can add the others later with the “Create” button in the project header. The difference between these projects is explained in “Simple and extended projects: how a project grows”.
The board of a new project takes the project's name. In an extended project, the knowledge base is named “Knowledge base” and the roadmap “Roadmap”. You can rename them later.
Board template
The “Board template” block is visible while “Board” is selected. Templates are grouped into “My templates”, “Work processes” and “Personal boards”. To find a template by name, use the “Search templates” field.
“Blank board” gives you the standard set of columns: “New”, “Paused”, “In progress”, “Done”, “Closed” and “Canceled”. A template sets its own columns and can also add task fields and a map of transitions between columns. Each template card shows how many columns and fields it has. A template doesn't create any tasks.
Other ways to create a project
- Point to the space name in the sidebar and click the plus button, “Add a project”.
- On an empty space page, click “Create a project” in the middle of the screen.
- To start from a ready-made project with boards and columns, click “From a template” on an empty space page. If the space already has projects, click “⋮” in the top right corner and choose “Template library”.
- On your phone, tap “⋮” on the space page and choose “Add a project”.
Your plan has run out of room
Plans count sections, not projects. Each section you select takes up a place in the limit. On the Free plan, a personal space has room for 5 sections, and on Free Team, a team space has room for 10. If there isn't enough room for the sections you selected, Taska offers to change your plan instead of creating the project. You can free up room by archiving: archived projects don't count towards the limit. See “Archiving projects and sections”.
Why there's no “Create a project” button
You're a guest in this team space. Guests work in the projects they were invited to, but they can't create projects. Ask the team's owner or an admin to create the project or to change your role. The roles are explained in “Roles: owner, admin, member and guest”.
