How to delete and restore a task

Updated:

In Taska, a deleted task stays in the space trash for 30 days, and you can restore it from there. Right after you delete a task, the “Restore” button in the notification brings it back.

How to delete a task

  1. Open the task and click the trash button in the bottom left corner of the window.
  2. In the “Delete the task” window, click “Delete”.

You can also delete a task from its card: right-click it and choose “Delete”. The task's checklist, files, chat and links to other tasks go to the trash together with it.

How to restore a task right away

After you delete a task, Taska shows a notification that the task was deleted, with a “Restore” button. Click it while the notification is on the screen, and the task returns to its place. The notification stays for about 7 seconds.

How to restore a task from the trash

  1. Click the name of the space in the sidebar. A page with its projects opens. For tasks from your personal space, go to “My projects”.
  2. Click “⋮” in the top right corner of the page and choose “Space trash”.
  3. Find the task and click “Restore” to its right.

The task returns to the same column with its checklist, files and chat. Taska shows a “Restored” notification with an “Open” button that opens the task.

To find the task faster, click “Tasks” above the list or type part of its title in the search field. The task's row shows where it was, who deleted it and when, and how many days it will stay in the trash. 30 days after deletion, Taska erases the task for good, along with its files.

The task doesn't restore
  • The board, column or project where the task was is also deleted. Restore it from the trash first, and Taska tells you which one. If it was already deleted for good, there's nowhere to restore the task to.
  • The project is archived. Restore the project from the archive, then restore the task again.
  • You were invited only to a project or section, not to the space. The space trash isn't available to you, and the “Restore” button in the notification won't work either. Ask a member of the space to restore the task.
How to delete a task for good

In the trash, click the cross button to the right of “Restore” and confirm with “Delete forever”. The owner and admins can do this with any item in the trash, and members only with items they deleted themselves. The “Empty trash” button at the top of the page deletes everything at once. Only the owner and admins have it.

A recurring task

If you click the trash button in the window of a recurring task, Taska asks what to delete: “This task”, “This and following tasks” or “All tasks”. The button works this way wherever the task window opens: on a board, in lists and in calendars. If the task has no deadline, Taska doesn't ask about occurrences and opens the usual confirmation window. From the card menu on a board or in a list (right-click and “Delete”), the whole series is deleted. See “How to set up recurring tasks”.

Several tasks at once

Select the tasks, for example by clicking their cards with Ctrl held down (⌘ on a Mac), and click “Delete” on the panel at the bottom of the screen. After you confirm, Taska shows “Tasks deleted” with the number and a “Restore” button that brings all of them back at once.

On a phone

The trash button is in the bottom left corner of the task fields tab. There's no right-click menu on a phone. To delete several tasks, hold your finger on a card, tap the other tasks you need and tap the trash button on the panel at the bottom. You open the space trash the same way, with “⋮” on the projects page.
