Overdue tasks: reschedule or remove the deadline

Updated:

In Taska, a task whose deadline has passed goes to the “Overdue” block at the top of “Today” and “Upcoming”. You can move all these tasks to another day at once or remove their deadline.

The block holds open tasks with a deadline before today where you are the assignee or there is no assignee. Overdue is counted by date. A task due today at 9 AM is not overdue at 3 PM, and it stays in “Today” until midnight.

The number in the block header shows how many tasks are overdue. The same number blinks in red next to “Today” in the sidebar. To collapse or expand the block, click its “Overdue” header.

How to reschedule all overdue tasks

  1. In the sidebar, click “Today” or “Upcoming”.
  2. In the “Overdue” block header, click “Move”.
  3. Pick a day in the calendar. The three buttons under the calendar choose today, tomorrow and the same day next week, and their names appear when you hover over them.
  4. Click “Apply”.

All tasks in the block move to the chosen day, and each keeps its own time. A “Tasks have been rescheduled” notification appears. Nothing changes until you click “Apply”, so you can close the calendar by clicking outside it.

How to remove the deadline from all overdue tasks

  1. In the “Overdue” block header, click “Clear deadline”.

Tasks without a deadline leave “Today” and “Upcoming”, but they are not deleted. They stay on their boards, and tasks without a board stay in “Inbox”. All tasks without a deadline where you are the assignee are collected in “My tasks” in the “No deadline” view. The views are described in “My tasks: views and what each one shows”.

How to reschedule a single task

Drag the card from the “Overdue” block into the “Today's tasks” list on the “Today” screen, or into the right day on the “Upcoming” screen. The date changes, and the time stays the same. You can see how it looks in “Today: your plan for the day”.

To set a different time, open the task, change the “Deadline” field and click “Save”.

You can't drag a task into the “Overdue” block. A task gets there only by its date.

Buttons on your phone

On a phone, the “Move” and “Clear deadline” buttons have no labels, only icons. The first button, with a calendar, reschedules the tasks. The second one, with a cross on the calendar, removes the deadline from all tasks in the block.
