How to accept an invitation to a team
Taska sends a team invitation by email with a link. If you already have an account, it also appears in Taska itself. You can accept it with the link or the “Accept” button.
If you already have an account
The email comes in your profile language. The invitation also waits for you in Taska, so you can accept it there or with the link in the email.
In Taska
- Open Taska. An “Invitation” notification appears in the bottom left corner. It says who is inviting you and where.
- Click “Accept”. If you don't want to join, click “Decline”.
Taska shows “Invitation accepted successfully”. The team space appears in the sidebar. If you were invited to a project in someone's personal space, look for it under “Invited me”.
The notification doesn't disappear by itself. If you close it, it shows up again the next time you open Taska, until you accept or decline the invitation. There's also a line about the invitation in the “Notifications” panel, but it has no “Accept” or “Decline” buttons.
With the link in the email
- Open the email and follow the link.
- If you aren't signed in to Taska in this browser, the sign-in form opens with the message “Sign in to accept the invitation”. Sign in with the email address the invitation was sent to.
After you sign in, Taska accepts the invitation right away and shows “Invitation accepted successfully” with the team or project name. If you're already signed in, the sign-in form doesn't open.
If you don't have an account yet
- Open the email and follow the link. The “Registration” form opens with the message “To accept the invitation, sign up with the email address it was sent to”. The address from the email is already in the “Email” field.
- Choose a password, tick both boxes and click “Sign up”. The form is described in “How to sign up for Taska”.
- Confirm your email with the link in the welcome email from Taska, then sign in.
- Go through the setup wizard. See “First launch: the setup wizard”.
- An “Invitation” notification appears on the “Today” screen. Click “Accept”.
If a teammate sent you an invitation link
An invitation link works both for people who already have an account and for newcomers.
- Open the link. If you're already signed in to Taska in this browser, the “Invitation” notification appears right away.
- If the sign-in form opens, sign in. If you don't have an account, click “Not registered yet?” and sign up.
- In the “Invitation” notification, click “Accept”.
Taska remembers the invitation in the browser where you opened the link. If you confirmed your email and signed in on another device, open the link again there. If you already have the access this link gives, it opens Taska as usual.
If the link in the email doesn't work
If the link can't accept the invitation, Taska shows a message with the reason.
- You already have access. You accepted the invitation earlier, or an admin gave you access directly. There's nothing to do.
- The invitation was declined or withdrawn, or accepting it with the link failed. Ask to be invited again.
- The link has expired. It works for 14 days, but the invitation itself is still valid. Click “Accept” in the “Invitation” notification.
- The link is no longer valid. This usually happens when you were invited again: only the link from the latest email works. Open that email or ask to be invited again.
- The invitation was sent to a different address. This means you're signed in to an account with another email. Click “Sign in with another account” in the message and sign in with the email the invitation was sent to. If the invitation isn't accepted after you sign in, open the link from the email again.
If the invitation link didn't open anything
The link may have been revoked or may have expired. Ask your teammate for a new one.
If accepting didn't work
You'll see the message “Failed to accept invitation”. This can happen, for example, when the team's subscription has no free seats left. If you opened the link from the email, Taska says in this case that there are no free seats left on the plan. Let the person who invited you know. Seats are explained in “Business seats: who takes a seat and how to change the number of seats”.
