Taska on your phone: the Android app
The Taska app for Android is on RuStore under its Russian name, “Таска”. It works the same as the website, with a bottom bar made for phones, push notifications and pull to refresh.
How to install the app
- Open RuStore on your phone.
- Search for “Таска” (Taska in Russian) and install the app.
- Open the app and sign in with your email and password.
The app runs on Android 7.0 or later. There's no separate app for iPhone. On an iPhone, open taska.be in the browser, and the interface adapts to the phone screen.
What's on the app screen
- The calendar icon. Opens “Today”, and the number on it shows how many tasks you have for today.
- “+”. Creates a task. On a board, the task goes to its first column. On a service desk page, a new ticket opens. Everywhere else, the task goes to “Inbox”.
- “≡”. Opens a menu with the same items as the sidebar on a computer: search, personal lists, favorites, spaces, notifications and your profile.
If you have access to TaskAI, its button is to the right of “+”. To close the menu, tap the cross, swipe left or pick an item.
The app loads its interface from the Taska website, so it looks the same as Taska in your phone's browser. Your tasks and projects are the same everywhere.
How to turn on push notifications
- Tap “≡”, then tap the button with your name at the bottom of the menu.
- In your profile, tap the bell icon (“Notifications”) and choose “Mobile push”.
- Tap “Turn on notifications on this device” and allow notifications in the Android prompt.
Taska doesn't ask for permission in advance, so without these steps no push notifications arrive. You choose which events to receive in the same section, see “Notification settings: in-app feed, push notifications and spaces”.
Notifications are blocked in your phone settings
If you blocked notifications from Taska before, the “Mobile push” section shows an “Open app settings” button. Tap it and allow notifications in the Android settings.
It says “System notifications are not available on this device.”
This happens on phones without Google services. Push notifications won't arrive on such a phone, but the notifications feed in Taska and emails keep working as usual.
What only the app can do
- Pull to refresh. Pull the screen down from the top and let go, and Taska reloads it. The gesture doesn't work in open windows or in the article editor.
- The phone's Back button closes the last open window or panel. If nothing is open, it takes you to the previous screen.
- Links to Taska like taska.be/app from email or a messenger open right in the app.
- Payment opens in a browser tab on top of the app. When you come back, the app checks the invoice by itself. See “Paying in the mobile app” for details.
What's not on a phone
A phone has no right-click menu, no teammates' cursors and avatars, no quick task preview with the Space key and no sidebar width setting. All of these work on a computer.
If there's no internet
Without a connection, the app shows the “No internet connection” screen and opens Taska by itself once the connection is back. The “Try again” button checks the connection right away. If you're online but the server doesn't respond, the screen says “Taska is not responding”. It also has an “Open in browser” button.
