Closed tasks: where they go and how to show them

Updated:

Taska doesn't delete a closed task. It stays in its column but is hidden from the board. To see it, click “⋮” in the board header and choose “Show closed tasks”.

How to show closed tasks

  1. On the board, click “⋮” in the header.
  2. Choose “Show closed tasks”.
The Development board with closed tasks shown: the ⋮ button in the header is numbered 1, the block of closed tasks in the Ready for testing column is outlined

In each column, a block of closed tasks appears below the open ones, with the most recently closed at the top. Taska shows the notification “The display of closed tasks is enabled”. To hide them again, choose “Hide closed tasks” in the same menu.

Frequently asked questions

I clicked the circle, and the task disappeared. Where is it?

The task is closed and hidden from the board along with the other closed tasks. It's still in the same column. Turn on “Show closed tasks” in the “⋮” menu, and it appears. Closing tasks is explained in “How to complete and reopen a task”.

Why are closed tasks hidden again after I showed them?

Taska doesn't remember that you showed closed tasks. Each time you open the board, they're hidden again. If you need them, turn the display on again.

Do my teammates also see closed tasks when I show them?

No. Showing closed tasks only changes your screen. Your teammates see the board as usual.

A task is in the “Done” column. Why isn't it closed?

A column only sets the status. The circle on the card closes the task. A task closes by itself in a column only if the column has an automation that closes tasks. See “How to complete and reopen a task”. Automations are explained in “Status automations”.

How do I bring a closed task back into work?

Show closed tasks and click the checked circle of the task you need. Taska shows the notification “The task has been resumed”, and the task joins the open ones. You can also right-click the card and choose “Reopen the task”.

Why can't I drag a closed task?

Closed tasks don't move between columns. Reopen the task with the circle first, then drag it.

How do I find an old closed task?

Press Ctrl+K and start typing its title. Closed tasks are crossed out in the results. If you pick one, Taska opens its board and turns on closed tasks by itself. See “Search and quick navigation (Ctrl+K)”. Within a project, project search works the same way, see “How to search within a project”.

Where can I see everything I closed this week?

Open “My tasks” and choose the “Done this week” view. It lists tasks closed in the last 7 days where you're the assignee or the author. See “My tasks: views and what each one shows”.

Do filters apply to closed tasks?

Yes. When closed tasks are shown, the board filters apply to them too, and the counter in the filter panel includes closed tasks. See “Filters and search on a board”.

Do closed tasks count towards a column's task limit?

No. A column's task limit counts only open tasks. See “Column task limit (WIP)”.
