How to complete and reopen a task
To mark a task as complete in Taska, click the circle to the left of its title on the card. A closed task leaves the board, and the same circle brings it back into work.
How to complete a task
- Hover over the circle to the left of the task title. A check mark appears in the circle.
- Click the circle.
Taska shows the notification “Done! The task has been successfully completed.” The card disappears because closed tasks are hidden on the board by default. The task also leaves “Today” and “Upcoming”.
The “Complete the task” item in the card menu does the same. You open the menu with a right-click. The task window has no button for completing a task, so you close tasks from the card.
Where to find completed tasks
- On a board, click “⋮” in the header and choose “Show closed tasks”. Closed tasks appear in their columns below the open ones. The next time you open the board, they're hidden again.
- On the “My tasks” screen, open the “Done this week” view. It lists tasks closed in the last 7 days where you're the assignee or the author.
How to reopen a task
- On a board, click “⋮” in the header and choose “Show closed tasks”.
- Click the checked circle of the closed task.
The task is back in work, and Taska shows “The task has been resumed.” You can also reopen a task with “Reopen the task” in the card menu, or with the circle in the “Done this week” view.
A recurring task doesn't close
For a recurring task, the circle moves the deadline to the next date in the series, and the task stays open. It closes when the series ends. To close it earlier, open the task, choose “Does not repeat” in the “Task recurrence” block and click “Save”. Then click the circle. See “How to set up recurring tasks”.
What else happens when you close a task
- Your timer for the task is deleted, together with any time you haven't sent to the chat.
- The task's blockers are removed.
The circle doesn't respond
The task is read-only. This happens if you're a guest in the project or the project is archived. Taska shows a window that explains why. See “Why you only have read-only access”.
