# Why you're not getting notifications

Usually a notification from Taska doesn't arrive because you did the action yourself, the event is turned off in your settings or “Do not disturb” is on. Go through the causes below in order.

## If you did it yourself

Taska doesn't notify you about your own actions. If you created a task, changed its status or wrote in the chat yourself, there's no notification. To check that notifications work, ask a colleague to mention you in a task chat.

## If the event is turned off in your settings

1. At the bottom of the sidebar, click the button with your name and open the “Notifications” tab.
2. In the “In the app” settings, check the “What lands in the feed” block. Events turned off there don't appear in the panel or in pop-ups. Turn on the ones you need.
3. Click “Spaces”. If a space has its own rules, there are labels under its name such as “In the app: off” or “Push: only addressed to me”. To remove them, click the space and then “Use general settings”.

More about the settings in “[Notification settings: in-app feed, push notifications and spaces](https://taska.be/en/help/491-notification-settings-in-app-feed-push-notifications-and-spaces)”.

## If “Do not disturb” is on

A pause or a schedule mutes push notifications, Telegram messages and pop-ups. Events still go to the feed, so you'll find them in the notifications panel.

To check, click “Do not disturb” on the “Notifications” tab. At the top, it says “Notifications are coming in”, “On pause” or “Quiet time by schedule”, and until when the quiet time lasts.

The Notifications tab, Do not disturb settings: the Do not disturb button, the Notifications are coming in status and the pause buttons are outlined

To get notifications again, click “Resume now” or turn off “Receive notifications only at the set time”. If important events should come through during quiet time as well, turn them on in the “Let through anyway” block. A space can also have its own schedule, which you see under “Spaces”. See “[‘Do not disturb’ mode](https://taska.be/en/help/494-do-not-disturb-mode)”.

## If a notification is in the feed but there was no pop-up

Check the “Pop-up notifications” block in the “In the app” settings on the “Notifications” tab. Pop-ups don't appear if “Show pop-ups for incoming events” is off. With “Only what is addressed to me” on, they only appear for things that concern you personally.

“Do not disturb” hides pop-ups too. And while the “User profile” window or the space settings are open, pop-ups stay behind them and become visible when you close the window.

## If push notifications don't reach your phone

Push notifications only go to the Taska mobile app, not to browsers. In the app, open the “User profile” window and the “Notifications” tab, then tap “Mobile push”. It shows what's wrong.

- It says “No devices registered for push yet”. Sign in to the app on your phone and tap “Turn on notifications on this device”.
- It says that notifications for Taska are turned off in the system settings. Tap “Open app settings” and allow notifications. If there's no such button, find Taska in your phone's system settings yourself.
- It says “System notifications are not available on this device.” This phone can't receive push notifications. The feed in the app works as usual.
- “Send push notifications” or the event you need in the “Task notifications” block is off. Turn them on.

If you sign out of the app, push notifications stop arriving on that phone. Sign in again to get them back.

## If Telegram messages don't arrive

The Telegram bot only works if it's connected on the “Integrations” tab. If it isn't, the “Telegram” channel under “Spaces” says “Telegram is not connected: connect it on the Integrations tab of the profile.” You choose which events go to Telegram on the same “Integrations” tab. See “[How to use the Taska bot in Telegram](https://taska.be/en/help/656-how-to-use-the-taska-bot-in-telegram)”.

## If you didn't get a deadline reminder

- The reminder goes to the task's assignee. If there's no assignee, it goes to the task's author.
- It arrives ahead of the deadline by the time set in the “Remind me” field of the “Mobile push” settings. If the deadline was set closer than that, for example half an hour ahead with “An hour before” selected, there's no reminder.
- Each deadline gets one reminder. If the deadline moves, a new reminder comes.
- Completed tasks and tasks in archived projects get no reminders.

## If you don't have access to the task

Notifications about a task only go to people who can open it, that is, members of the space and people invited to the project or board. If you were invited to only one board, you won't get notifications about tasks on the project's other boards.

## If notifications disappeared from the panel

Read notifications are kept for 30 days, unread ones for 120 days. After that, Taska deletes them.
