# Color mode and color theme

In Taska, you choose light or dark mode and the color theme in the “User profile” window on the “Appearance” tab. The choice applies to the device and browser where you made it.

## How to choose the mode and color

1. At the bottom of the sidebar, click the button with your name.
2. In the “User profile” window, open the “Appearance” tab.
3. In the “Color mode” block, click “Light” or “Dark”.
4. In the “Color theme” block, click the tile with the color you want. To see a color's name, hover over its tile.

Taska changes its colors right away. There's nothing to save. The icon of the browser tab changes too.

Taska has no “match system” mode. The mode doesn't follow your computer or phone settings.

## Which colors are available

There are 22 colors. Five of them are available on the free plan: Emerald, Amber, Red, Blue and Gray. They come first in the palette. The others have a lock and the hint “Available on Pro and Business”. If you click a locked color, Taska offers to upgrade to Pro.

All 22 colors are available on Pro, during the Pro trial and to everyone who has a seat in a Business team. Such a team gives its members a personal Pro.

## Each device keeps its own theme

The mode and color are stored in the browser or app where you chose them. That's why your phone and your computer can look different. Changing the theme on your computer doesn't change it on your phone.

When you open Taska for the first time on a new device or in another browser, it takes the mode and color you chose most recently. After that, the device keeps its own theme. Taska does the same if you clear your browser data.

The color changed to Emerald by itself

This happens when Pro or the Pro trial ends while you have a color that's locked on the free plan. Taska switches back to Emerald. Choose one of the five free colors or subscribe to Pro. See “[How to subscribe to Pro](https://taska.be/en/help/671-how-to-subscribe-to-pro)”.

Why a team looks different in the sidebar

A team space can have its own color. The owner or an admin sets it in the space settings, and members and guests can change it just for themselves in the “Personal settings” window. This color only applies to the team in the sidebar and to its settings windows. The rest of Taska keeps your color.
