# Spaces in the sidebar: switching, reordering and collapsing

In the Taska sidebar, each space is a block with its projects underneath. The name opens the space page, the arrow collapses the block, and you can drag blocks to change their order.

Taska has no separate space switcher: all your spaces are visible in the sidebar at once. Your personal space is labeled “My projects”, and your team spaces come after it.

## How to open or collapse a space

1. Click the name of a space in the sidebar. A page with all projects of that space opens.
2. To hide the projects of a space, click the arrow to the right of its name. To show them again, click the arrow once more.

When you open a space, Taska expands its block and collapses the others. To keep several blocks open, click their arrows. You can also open a project or section right from the sidebar by clicking its row.

## Buttons next to the space name

Point to the name of a team space, and buttons appear on the right. Which ones you see depends on your role in the space.

- Gear, “Space settings”. For the owner and admins.
- Sliders, “Personal settings”. For members and guests: you can set your own name and color for the space, and only you see them.
- Crossed-out circle, “Leave the space”. For everyone except the owner.
- Plus in a circle, “Add a project”. For the owner, admins and members. “My projects” always has this button.

The same actions are in the menu that opens when you right-click the space name. That menu also has “Open in a new tab” and “Collapse”.

## How to change the order of spaces

1. Point to the name of a space.
2. Hold down the mouse button and drag the space up or down.
3. Release the mouse button.

Animation: the team space is grabbed by its name and dragged above My projects, and then it comes first in the sidebar

You can reorder projects inside a space the same way. Dragging can't move a project to another space. Taska stores the order of blocks and which of them are collapsed in your account, so the sidebar looks the same on all your devices.

The “Invited me” and “Service desks” blocks

“Invited me” collects projects from other people's personal spaces that were shared with you. A team project you were invited to on its own appears in that team's block. “Service desks” holds the desks where you're a member. Both blocks only appear when they have something in them. You can collapse and drag them too.

If the sidebar is collapsed

Spaces are shown as a column of icons. Point to an icon, and a list of the projects and sections of that space opens on the right. You can reorder the icons by dragging too.

On a phone

In the “≡” menu, a space name only has the arrow. To add a project, open settings or leave a space, tap its name, then tap “⋮” in the top right corner of the page that opens. To drag a space, touch its name, hold your finger for a moment and move it up or down.
